Come join us as we take a walk with a naturalist. Feel free to stay and explore the nature center afterwards. Ages: 2-5 years. Please one adult per family.

All general meetings include complimentary childcare in a room immediately adjacent to the meeting room as well as pizza. This year’s childcare will be provided by the On Your Toes Dance Studio Booster Club.

Let‘s have some fun painting pottery with your favorite adult at Color Me Mine! Feel free to bring snacks to share as we paint together. Pottery pieces will need to be purchased at an extra cost. There are a range of pieces and sets that can be split between painters, paid to Color Me Mine at the event.

The Great Lakes Science Center features over 100 hands-on science exhibits including the Polymer Funhouse and Port Polymer indoor and outdoor play spaces designed specifically for children under 7. There is also an infant area for ages 2 and under in the Polymer Funhouse. Price includes general admission for the day. Bring lunch and play for as long as you like! Please arrive as promptly as possible so that the field trip organizer’s children do not run off without her as she waits to hand out wristbands! Children ages 1 and younger are free and do not need to register. *This is a pre-paid event, no refunds will be given for cancellations after May 9 unless another member on the waitlist can take your spot.*

Join us for a private SECPTA members movie day at the Garresttsville Cinema. Each ticket includes a box of popcorn.

Jump in the bed of the SECPTA truck* as we ride down East Washington Street in Chagrin Falls for their Blossom Time Parade. Adults will be walking and passing out flyers about SECPTA. Children are welcome to ride in the bed of the truck. An adult will be assigned to sit in the back to ensure the safety of our children.

Staging Location: Chagrin Falls High School. Arrive between 12:30pm and 1:15pm. Parade starts at 2pm. We do not have an end time as it‘s a parade.

Ending Location: 21 West Washington Street.
It has been suggested that parade participates park at the ending location and walk to the parade staging area. There is limited parking for vehicles at the staging area.

Bring a game to play and a dish to share and enjoy a relaxed evening of family fun at the library. Older children are welcome to attend and to bring age-appropriate games. SECPTA will provide a few games and coloring sheets as well as pizza. A signup genius will be emailed to all attendees and will include sides like salad, veggie tray, fruit, and dessert!

Paddle the Cuyahoga River in the evening ending with a sunset bonfire.

Participants can choose to rent a canoe, single or tandem kayak, OR Stand Up Paddleboard (or have their own boat transported for a fee).

Small children can ride between a parent‘s legs in a kayak or in the middle of a canoe. We will meet at Camp Hi Canoe & Kayak Livery in Hiram. Our reservation is at 5:00pm but please arrive 15-20 minutes early to pick out life vests and paddles (included) & sign waivers.

We will be taking their ‘Short trip A‘- ~7 miles from 422 south back to Camp Hi. At a slow pace this trip averages 3-4 hours to paddle.

Wear long sleeves/cover your skin and bring bug spray.
Bring drinks & snacks and a dry bag for anything that can‘t get wet.

Celebrate the first day of summer vacation (for some!) with a day at the beach in Bay Village. Bring a swimsuit, a towel, and some sand toys and enjoy a beach with some actual shade! Pack a lunch or buy your lunch (and ice cream!) at the Noshery overlooking the lake. Meet us at the brand new nature playground or on the beach to the right side of the stairs down from the Noshery. Older siblings are welcome. Please feel free to invite friends!

Let‘s beat the heat with bubble tea and enjoy some fun flavors. Participants will get a short behind the scene of how bubble tea is made and its origin. Choose a drink and stay for some crafts.

Come enjoy the rides at Memphis Kiddie Park. Kids will receive a wristband for 2 hours of unlimited rides, a bag of popcorn and a drink. Kids MUST BE UNDER 50 INCHES with shoes on to ride all of the rides. Parents may purchase individual tickets for the roller coaster and train. Please also note that no outside food or drink (other than water) is permitted. Ages: 2+ years.

Join us and set out on a sweet adventure at the popular local donut shop Nik‘s Donuts. See where and how the dough is made, every donut is made by hand, and they‘re made in the middle of the night! Nik might even take some custom donut decoration requests from the kids! Donut included for all attendees.

Join us at Lake Metroparks Farmpark for Springtime on the Farm! The day will begin with a short program about farming and gardening and all the kids will be able plant a seed to bring home! After that, you’re free to enjoy all the Farm Park has to offer—meet animals, milk a cow, see sheep herding, and explore the playgrounds with friends! Children under two are free but do need to register to receive a ticket.

Meet us at the Nature Center at Penitentiary Glen. First, we‘ll do the short story walk hike (stroller accessible). Afterwards, we‘ll visit Nature Play! Feel free to pack lunch.

Pre-show entertainment starts at 6 PM, so bring your blankets and camp chairs and prepare for a lovely evening outside with friends watching Mufasa‘s journey from an orphaned cub to the King of the Pride Lands. Snacks will be available for purchase, but feel free to pack a picnic or bring takeout to enjoy a picnic dinner.

Kick off summer with SECPTA. Join us for a family hike followed by a bonfire and potluck cookout. We will provide the hot dogs (and veggie dogs) and send out a signup genius to those who register for the sides. Be sure to bring camp chairs and/or blankets! Meet us in the Henry Church Rock parking lot. If you enter the park from SOM, follow the road straight down until it dead ends into the parking lot on your right.

Pack a lunch and head on over after t-ball (if you‘re playing) to Sebastian‘s Playground to meet other rising kindergarteners going to your child‘s school. We will have name tags in different colors to designate the Solon elementary schools, Twinsburg, and St. Rita‘s. Email fieldtrips@secpta.net if there is another school you would like me to add. Please note, if you do not have a rising kindergartener, you are still more than welcome to attend. Your child(ren) can get a nametag for their future school.

Moms, Let’s Throw Some Axes!
Ready to unleash your inner warrior and have some fun with the best crew around? Join us for a wild-ish moms outing where we will be axe-throwing! No experience needed – just bring your enthusiasm and a desire to try something new (and maybe release a little stress along the way!).

Celebrate Dad by spending time together on the rails and trails! We will park at the Botzum Station/Trailhead and bike 9.5 miles to the Boston Mills trailhead (depending on who signs up and whether kids will be riding bikes or in seats/carriers we can adjust to go further or a shorter distance).

Szalay‘s Farmer‘s Market will be open at the 7 mile mark. At the end of our bike ride we will ride the train back to our cars at the Botzum Trailhead/Station. Secpta will pay for your train ticket.

Join us at the City of Solon Service Department for touch a truck! A community helper will tour us through the fleet of Solon service vehicles and teach us what each vehicle does for our community. We will see, and most importantly get to touch and look inside of, a trash truck, recycling truck, dump truck, and many other service vehicles! All ages are welcome.

Juneteenth is a day to celebrate and to remember, so bring your blankets and lawn chairs and come enjoy a picnic and music with SECPTA friends. A traditional folkloric performance by Djapo Cultural Arts Institute will start at 6PM and Carlos Jones and the P.L.U.S. Band will begin their performance at 7:30PM. Food Trucks and community booths and possibly a kids craft will round out the evening.

We will be meeting at Kathy‘s home (email Kate.Breuer@secpta.net for address) and we will be reading Lula Dean’s Little Library of Banned Books by
Kirsten Miller. As always, feel free to come socialize even if you don’t read the book!

SECPTA will provide appetizers/finger food, but feel free to BYO beverage of choice! Can’t wait to see you there!

Calling all dads! It‘s time to channel your inner Viking and show off your axe-throwing skills. Whether you‘re aiming for the bullseye or just hoping not to hit the floor, this night promises laughs, friendly competition, and a whole lot of fun. Enjoy some dad jokes, refreshments, and the thrill of pretending you‘re in a lumberjack competition. Don‘t miss out on this epic night of axe-citement!

Join the city of Solon in celebrating diversity and promoting understanding at Solon Pride Day. There will be crafts led by the Solon Center for the Arts and face painting and lots of fun activities for families.

Need a sitter for a few hours? Storybook yoga is watching the kids for 3 hours while parents can run some errands or grab a bite to eat with us at Winking Lizard (check out the other event on our site).

Monday June 30th: DANCE/MOVEMENT - With a focus on rhythmic awareness, active movement and basic coordination, this class for little ones will provide a fun and engaging introduction to movement! Young students explore forms of self-expression and imagination through guided movement, activities and games! Students will improve basic coordination and rhythm while learning to dance.

Tuesday July 1st: ART - Let’s get these little artists being messy and creative. They will express themselves in multimedia projects but also refine fine motor skills such as holding a pencil and cutting.

Wednesday July 2nd: THEATER - This class will introduce your little ones to the stage as we explore the basic fundamentals of theater. Students will play theater games that explore using their voices, bodies and imaginations to create stories and have fun! Students will explore songs, games and more as we play together in the world of Theater.

Thursday July 3rd: MUSIC - instruments, song, and a creative introduction to musical concepts.

Students must be potty trained and between ages 3-7. **This is a ticketed event, no refunds will be given for cancellations unless you are able to find another member who is able to take your place.**

Please note the difference in registration for this event! Members only need to register their children for our summer camps. If you are signing up one kid then register as "Me Only" if you have more than one kid then register as "Me + Guest."

Join SECPTA friends across the border at Splash Lagoon for a fun day splashing around! SECPTA will receive a portion of admission ticket back. This is open to members and nonmembers.

A Flyer will be sent out 2 weeks before and 2 days before that you will need to show when registering.

Come listen to the Cleveland Orchestra as they underscore Disney‘s 1994 The Lion King movie! In addition to picnic meals and blankets, chairs (preferably short-legged) are welcome on the lawn. Rental chairs are available for $10 per evening and concessions like pizza and hot dogs are available for purchase. *Please note, these tickets can be used for admittance to the lawn on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday for The Lion King or for any other show all season, including Harry Potter and the Sorcerer‘s Stone! Feel free to coordinate with friends to attend the same show or to switch your plans if the weather is not good. Parking will be open at 4PM and gates open at 5PM.
